Born in Birmingham, Alabama during the turbulent times of racial segregation, Pastor Gregg Patrick moved to Houston, and established the Southwest Community Baptist Church in January of 1991 with 19 members. Since that time, the church, known as The Bridge, has now grown to more than 8,500 members, and the ministry has planted 41 churches throughout Texas and the world.
In January of 1997, the church completed a $4.3 million dollar sanctuary, gymnasium and school project, which was previously begun in February 1996. Completion was accomplished in only 11 months. Pastor Patrick is also administrator of Southwest Community Christian Academy, a 200-student private Christian institution. At Southwest Biblical College, he teaches New and Old Testament Survey, The Gospels, Biblical Greek, Homiletics, Hermeneutics, and other biblical classes.
In 1999, Pastor Patrick was inspired to begin Take It To The Bridge, the world’s largest one day gospel festival, held for 5 years in the Houston Astrodome, to raise money for the youth of Houston.
Pastor Patrick has produced gospel videos and recordings featuring notable artists such as, John P. Kee, Dr. Bobby Jones, Jacki Valasquez, Shirley Caesar, Juan Carlos Alvarado, Kirk Franklin, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Vickie Winans, Juanita Bynum, Creflo Dollar, Fred Hammond and many, many others. In 2007, Pastor Patrick produced his first top 10 hit CD, “Crossover” which earned a Stellar Award nomination for the smash gospel hit, “I Am A Witness.”
Former business manager for Redd Foxx and Vice President of Horne Commercial Properties, Pastor Patrick has taken many of the business skills learned in college and developed in the secular world, to create ministries to aid and benefit all Texans.
